David Pook 1963 - 2012

It is with great sadness that we report the news of the death of David Pook. David died comfortably and peacefully just after three o'clock on the morning of Tuesday 17th January, surrounded by loved ones at his family home in Guildford. David was a pupil at the School from 1975 to 1982 and taught in the RS Department here as his first post for three years to 1991. As a pupil and as a member of staff he was heavily involved in the Gibbon Society as well as being a member of the Christian Union. He sang in the Choir, took part in lots of Drama and was very much respected as a member of our community.
David left KGS for Churcher's College, where he held a number of posts, and went on from there to be Deputy Head and Director of Studies at King's Macclesfield. David stayed in touch with the School and the many friends he had made here as a pupil and teacher. There was a reunion for members of his form groups on Saturday 14th January at the School, which he attended and from which he derived great pleasure.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

We have now heard that the funeral will take place on Wednesday 8th February in Macclesfield. Following a private committal service there will be a Service of Thanksgiving at St Michael's Macclesfield at 2.00 pm to which all of David's friends are welcome. This will be followed by refreshments at King's School, Cumberland Street, Macclesfield. Family flowers only, donations are welcome to The Christie and East Cheshire Hospice. For those attending the Service of Thanksgiving David requested that bright and colourful clothes should be worn.
